The Steps to Take to Get this Process Going; It is Easy and Generally Fees are Fixed
Step 1: Your Initial Consultation, which is really just a conversation, is free. We will talk about your personal situation and wishes. The only preparation necessary is to develop a list of your assets and to begin to consider how you would like to pass those assets.
Step 2: Drafting and Reviewing Documents. I will draft a personalized estate plan for you that meets your needs and reflects your wishes. I will forward those documents to you for your review and feedback.
Step 3: Implementing Your Plan. When you are satisfied with the drafts, simply come in and sign them. You will keep copies of all of your estate planning documents, and I will keep the original copy of your Will in my vault or file it with the Surrogate’s Court, if you prefer.
It is a good idea to review your estate planning documents every three to five years and update them to reflect changes in your circumstances and priorities. I am happy to meet with you at any time to address changes in your financial situation, marital status, number of children, philanthropic interests and general lifestyle decisions.
I maintain a lifetime relationship with all of my clients, and therefore my estate planning fees are affordable and, generally, billed at a flat rate. This allows you, as my client, to have open communication with me without fearing an itemized bill for each phone call or question asked. I strive to keep communications with my clients as open and timely as possible, consistent with developing a client-centered, counseling-oriented approach to estate planning.
